There cannot be a single approach to understanding the convergence of two such personal activities as viewing a film and travelling for pleasure. Consequently, the relationship between film (movies and TV series in particular) and tourism is complex, as this Special Edition on film tourism illustrates by presenting work by researchers from a range of disciplinary backgrounds. While presenting a ‘state of the art’ discussion and current research in this area, the papers also provide enormous scope for future film tourism research.
